Vicki Sue Robinson May 31, 1954 April 27, 2000 was an American theatrefilm actress and singer, closely associated with the disco era of late 1970s pop music she is most famous for her 1976 hit, Turn the Beat Around. Born in Harlem, New York, to African American Shakespearean actor Bill Robinson and his European American wife Marianne, a folk singer, Vicki Sue Robinson was reared in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for most of her early years, returning with her family to New York City when she was. 8 tracks 39:04. On her fourth and final album for RCA, Robinson switched from the production of Warren Schatz to T. Life, who also served as co-writer on most tracks. Best-known for his 1970's work with Evelyn Champagne King, Life gave Robinson a funkier soul edge on this outing, in the form of grooves like the titletrack, a downtempo jam with a gospel-esque background arrangement and the breezy High on Your Love. Collectors looking to buy directly from this label be very very cautious. I ordered 2 discs and for 4 months saw absolutely nothing. I am not the only customer experiencing this. At the end I made a complaint to my credit card and obtained a refund. At first they answered my email and kept saying they will check on the dispatch but after several times they stopped answering altogether. It wasn't as if they sent the cds and I did not get them. I think the truth is they do not have the cds there they claim they have in stock. There is a facebook page suggesting the label is a scam, and I absolutely do not think otherwise. This is not a malicious review and anyone has questions can look up.
Yes, a shame because they ran the business so badly and dishonestly. There are no excuses.I was hoping to get those Grace Jones digipaks and the Cheryl Ladd but Universal already did all of the Grace Jones now.
Gold Legion has closed their doors. Too many paid orders unfilled, too many customer complaints. Shame really cause they were putting out some great reissues.
This is how companies go down through bad management. My credit card refunded me quickly. I have the feeling Gold Legion didn't even reply to them. It's obvious the 2 Grace Jones cds were never shipped because they are not done. They tell people their limited edition Laura Branigan is running low on stock, but they are only on 'preorder'. I don't know how something can be low on stock when it's not even done. Obviously they are very inventive with their ordering system.
I had a similar experience with Gold Legion initially about 3 years ago and I have 2 admit, the work and love they put into their product line is aMAZING, however, they really need 2b more consistent when announcing "new" releases because it's misleading to the consumer. What I do now is simply order directly from Amazon once these releases appear. Gold Legion is a new company, but that's no excuse for poor customer service. If they intend on staying in the game, they're gonna have to seriously up their ante, especially where BBR and Funkytowngrooves as well as Expansion are bigger, immediate threats. Good luck! Keep us updated. :-)
