Then, a second album is churned out quickly, the band or the record company feeling the pressure to capitalize, want to strike again before the publics interest wanes. And many times, that second album is inferior, the songs sou. Although The Good Earth feels like the band traded in amphetamines for decaf chai and yoga, the album carries nearly the same weight as Crazy Rhythms in terms of its critical success and influence. A perfect road trip record, you feel summer wind in your hair as the guitars churn and chime on tracks like On the Roof and Lets Go, you hug a curvy, country road as the hazy psych-pop of Tomorrow Today unfurls around yo. The Feelies formed as a four-man rock band in a New Jersey suburb whose biggest 20th century shakeup was a textile strike. They wrote some original material and learned a couple of Beatles songs. The Good Earth, produced by . s Peter Buck and released six years later, is their little one. Bassist Keith DeNunzio and Anton Fier left the band Fier went on to play with Bill Laswell, Pere Ubu, John Zorn and a gymnasium's worth of notable avant-rock musicians. Dave Weckerman, Brenda Sauter and Stan Demeski- all local musicians Million and Mercer had been tooling around in side projects with- joined.
