Album
Magnified is the second album by the American alternative rock band Failure. Magnified differs greatly from Failure's debut album Comfort by using a great deal of bass guitar distortion. Their use of a bassline as the main structure to the song as well as distortion can be heard best on Frogs and Wonderful Life. Harmonics are also used extensively and can be heard quite prominently on the songs Moth, Wonderful Life and Empty Friend. Failure - Magnified Full Album. Paul Eberhardt. Failure - Magnified review: One of the best and most overlooked albums of the 90s alternative boom. Magnified never had a chance to succeed commercially. It was released at a time when so many previously-underground alternative bands were trying to capitalize on their new, major-label contracts that it became difficult to keep track on them all. It was released on the same day as Soundgardens Superunknown and Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral, two of the biggest alternative albums of the decade. In fact this is their only album, and one of only few rock albums in general, where most songs are defined by the bassline instead of the guitar work making it rather unique. Magnified Tracklist. Let It Drip Lyrics. Magnified represents the real emergence of Failure, perhaps the best post-grunge dirge-pop band of the '90s. Shedding the sonic intrusiveness of producerengineer Steve Albini, Failure took on the production of this effort, revealing recording and songwriting skills hidden on the band's debut of two years earlier. Songwriters Ken Andrews guitars, vocals and Greg Edwards bass, drums are joined by drummer John Dargahi filling in on tracks Edwards probably couldn't cover on his own. but that would be selling Magnified way short. Dont be like the rest of the universe, who was turned off by a tragically dogshit album cover that completely belied the genius therein: Indulge in the inscrutable, yet infectious thunder minus midway Floyd-worship chill pill Bernie that earned the band an opening slot for the then-very-cool Tool, yet frustratingly never took them to the next level. If 1991 is the year punk broke, then 1994 is the year punks water broke, birthing the golden nugget Magnified by Failure. Druggy chord changes slither unpredictably, oftentimes led by a four-string bassquake alongside primal drumming, both delivered with forceful conviction. 참조: Magnified, CD, Album, 45556-2. Dumb move. Luckily I've bought two other pressings of this CD since then
