Relapse is the sixth studio album by American rapper Eminem. The album was released on May 15, 2009, under Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records, and Interscope Records. It was his first album of original material since Encore 2004, following a four-year hiatus from recording due to his writer's block and an addiction to prescription sleeping medication. Recording sessions for the album took place during 2008 to 2009 at several recording studios, and Dr. Dre, Mark Batson, and Eminem handled production. Relapse is Eminems 6th studio album released May 15, 2009. The album was released after a gap of 4 years since his last studio album Encore. The reason its been so long between the 2 albums is that after Encore, Eminem went to a drug rehab from sleeping pills, thats why the album cover is a picture of Eminem made of pills and why the album is called Relapse. His next album Recovery was originally meant to be called Relapse 2 , but Eminem changed the name claiming the album had completely different material, and it didnt make sense to call it a sequel. Relapse Q&A. Chinese Translation. Relapse is easily Eminem's most underrated album. Since the release of the follow-up album, Recovery, a cult. Relapse will be Eminem's first studio album since Encore in 2004, thus ending the rapper's musical hiatus. Since 2005, Eminem had intended to take a break from recording his own music in order to become a hip hop producer for other rap acts, especially for the artists signed on his own label Shady Records. Such a break came when Eminem canceled. Relapse Eminem album. One of the most anticipated album releases of 2009, Relapse debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 608,000 copies in its first week. It produced three singles that attained chart success and has been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Eminem placed himself in exile shortly after Encore wound down, a seclusion initially designed as creative down-time but which soon descended into darkness fueled by another failed marriage to his wife Kim and the death of his best friend Proof, culminating in years of drug addiction. Em none too subtly refers to that addiction with the title of Relapse, his first album in five years, but that relapse also refers to Marshall Mathers reviving Slim Shady and returning to rap. Relapse is Eminem's sixth studio album and his first since Encore in 2004, following a five-year hiatus from recording due to his writer's block and an addiction to sleeping pills. Recording sessions for the album took place during 2007 to 2009 at several recording studios, and Dr. Conceptually, Relapse concerns the ending of his drug rehabilitation, rapping after a fictional relapse, and the return of his Slim Shady alter-ego. Relapse is a dope CD That Eminem did back in 2009 when he returned to his Slim Shady ego and I like every track on the album is fire by has specific ones that like the most like we made you, 3 a. Beautiful, Old Times Sake, Same Song & Dance And Crack a Bottle. I'm glad I finally got my copy of this CD by him cuz I'm trying to add it to the rest of my Eminem collection. This album is fire and I give it like 10 Stars. Read more. Relapse makes it abundantly clear where the line gets drawn in 2009. It's appropriate that the title character from Stan has become web argot for obsessive fanboy, because Eminem drives both Stan and stan alike crazy in the same exact way- by completely ignoring them until it's too late to make amends. Star Trek isn't the only franchise reboot expected to do big numbers this summer- instead of the 13-year-old who got into The Slim Shady LP and found that underground shit he did with Scam, Relapse is for that guy's little brother who's 13-years

This is how "horrorcore" should be done. Dark and gruesome lyrics delivered cleverly, witty, and with a sense of humor. Lyrical delivery flawless, and the beats bang...all those aspiring to do "horrorcore" or some derivative needs to study this album as their bible.
What can you say. This is by far Eminem's best work since the Marshal Mathers LP.

After his last record, and the guest spots on pop singer Akon and others' radio songs, and a whole host of uninspired music, many thought Mr. Mathers was washed up. Boy, does this record set the record straight.

Em is one of the tightest MCs of all time, and with this record he has dropped the best rap/hip-hop record in a long time.

The first song "3am" sets the record off with a relentless attack of lyrics about killing, doing drugs, and pleasuring himself to Hannah Montana.

The whole album is solid with tracks like "Medicine Ball" and "Underground.". The weakest song is the first single, "Crack The Bottle" with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent. The song is not bad at all, and would have been a huge hit 5 years ago, but seems uninspired compared to the rest of the album.

This is a must have album for any Eminem or Hip-Hop fan.
